How to use scrap to decorate your Christmas table

Merry Christmas!

I hope you are enjoying the company of your families, peace and holidays. I just wanted to share with you the pictures of  the decoration of our Christmas table. Unfortunately I didn't manage to make a photo of the table "in action", but I hope you get the idea.

I really like when the Christmas table is nicely decorated, but I can not afford any expensive decoration. Thus I made it in the style "what the house gave" (Czech term :) ) and I added just few things bought in the sales - I spent max 4 EUR on all the decorations I bought, which is OK, I think.

On the table I put a basic wrapping paper from IKEA, and added hand made snowflakes, silver conifer cones, apples, nuts, ribbons, cord and hand made decorative candles.

And in order to avoid unwanted glass exchange I placed a ribbon on each glass and wrote a name of a guest on it :)

So, what do you say?

Grey,black, blue and purple

Pěkný den všem!

Jak vidíte, udělala jsem dvě změny :)

Za prvé: konečně mohu psát i česky - z nějakého důvodu mi totiž nešla přepnout klávesnice. Ono by to asi bývalo šlo vyřešit, ale když to nejde na první kliknutí, znáte to... No každopádně doufám, že tuto změnu oceníte.

A co vy, jakou jste měly(i) sobotu?

Užijte něděli! Kristýna

Hello Everyone!

So...I have done two changes.

First: as you can see I started to post in Czech as well. Till now I couldn't as I didn't manage to switch my keyboard. It could be done earlier I think, but you know - if you don't manage to do it for the first try... Anyway  I hope my Czech readers will appreciate this change.

For the second change - I also posted larger pictures, as some readers have pointed their absence as a weakness of my posts, thus I hope it will makes you happy :)

Regarding today's outfit - I went in this outfit to shop at the market where the sneakers are necessary. And it seem that thanks to the hat I received less "Bonjour Mademoiselle" from the (mostly) Moroccan marketers. Or should  I thank the weather? Anyway I felt comfortably "hidden":)

And what about you? How was your Saturday?

Denim & grey

Hello ladies!

So this time something easy - one of the combinations I like to wear for running around - this time shopping at the market. I am quite surprised as it seems that those trousers makes my legs look shorter.. not that they are long...Anyway doesn't matter this is what  I am :) and we had fun making these pictures with my friend Justyna, which is more important :)

And what do you like to wear for "running around" if the weather is not warm, not cold?

I wish you a great afternoon,

Kristyna

How to Wear an Oversized Shirt?

Hello Everybody!

Did you ever got something like this? An oversized formless shirt which you didn't want to throw out even though you have no idea where, when and how to wear it? Well I hope that following pictures will give you some idea!

First - roll up the sleeves and get some belt and tights. Second - add accessories. Third - chose shoes. Here I wore wide belt and ballerinas...

... but  it can look good with the heels too...

... or with the poncho.

I hope this post was interesting for you and let me know which variation do you like the most and why!

Have a great day :)

Denim, blue and brown

Hello ladies!

Today is Friday! Yay! So lets check some casual (relaxed) office suitable clothes :) This was one of the blazers which started my blazer obsession. And it was also the love at the first sight (happened with shoes, but never with a person :D ).  It is not a bright color combination, but regarding the time of the year I think it is OK. I have to admit it is also one brand combination, which I am usually trying to avoid, but this combination works together so well.
 Hope you like it!

Have a great afternoon!

Dark blue & flowers

Hello ladies!

Do you remember the post from the last week, where  I promised you the autumn version of the dress? So here it is! It is more "office autumn" as it is quite cold outside, but still.

Unfortunately the lighting wasn't good so you can not see the details like the structure of the tights, but still you can get the idea of the outfit.

I also tried a bit different hairstyle, so I hope you can see it and you like it.

I am just not sure about one thing - whether it does or does not look too summerish? What do you think?

Let me know and have a nice day!

Kristyna

Birds (black & brown)

Hello!

This time something really simple - the birdie dress from Primark! It is has great flattering cut with that kind of skirt you just want to turn around again and again to let it whirl around you.

But this time let me speak more about the accessories - namely the bag. The Bridge bag. To be honest I had no idea about the brand, when I picked it up at the flea market. I just liked its colour, shape and the nice thick leather it is made of.
If I remember well, the seller wanted 8 EUR for it, but after a while of bargaining I got it for 4,50 EUR. I think it is good price for the leather bag. But how surprised I was when, few months later, I googled the name written on the bag and I found out it is high quality Italian brand and the prices of their handbags start somewhere around 250 EUR!
I was so happy when I found it out, because it felt like finding a treasure. For 4,5 EUR. IT has one scratch, but it is not much see-able  If you want you can check the pictures of other bags here.

Do you have some similar findings?

Have a nice afternoon,

Kristyna

White, dark blue, denim & the red double-decker

Hi people!

I think that after several posts with the dresses there is a time for some more casual jeans today. I bought this awesome T-shirt with the London  house, red double-decker and phone booth in one Moroccan shop on the Chaussée d'Ixelles (I will provide you with the exact address in some of the future posts). It was for 3 EUR I think.

It looks good by itself, but I wanted something warmer and this dark blue blazer was an ideal option as you can see the back of the T-shirt too. I also like the combination of the elegant blazer and relaxed jeans.
And what do you think? Is the bottom part too relaxed, or is it OK?

Have a great day!

Kristyna

How to make a shelf out off scrap

Hello Dear Readers!

Today I will show you how I used the empty space in my bathroom for shelf.

This is an extra cheap project as most of the parts are recycled.

You will need:

  • empty corner, where facing tiles create an edge
  • empty packets or wooden boards for the shelf
  • bag / wallpaper / textile / paint
  • string
  • scissors
  • duck tape
  • something to secure the string - a big bead / button / anything else which will work for you - I used the metal drinking can opener (I think this isn't the proper name for it, but I don't know how to call it even in Czech)

And here what I've done with the packages:

You can play with it much more - for example paint the packages or cover them with the wallpaper.

Than I just put all the things together and TA-DA!
The upper shelf holds on the tile edge and the lower one hangs on the upper one secured with the can openers.

Hope you like it and let me wish you a beautiful  and creative day!

Blue&yellow

Hello ladies!

I know I haven't been posting for a long time. But I was at home for few days (jupi!), where I didn't have any time to go online and when I come back I was tired and now sick : -(

But I still have some summer pictures to show you, so don't worry I am back on track or at least back on blog ...

So lets check this great dress I got from my boyfriend's mother :) This dress is really comfortable in the summer as it is made from light and breathable material.

Hope you like it and stay tuned as the autumn version is coming soon!

Enjoy your day!

Kristyna

Where to shop the best chocolate in Brugge

Hello chocolate lovers!

If you are addicted to chocolate as same as me and you are going to Brugge or Antwerpen you have to stop at this shop! It is just the best chocolate ever I think.

I have never seen such crazy combinations of tastes, but they are sooo good! I would never expect that ginger or bacon praline can taste good, but it does. The truth is, this shop is a bit pricey (the bag you can see below was for something about 13 EUR) but it is definitely worth it - each piece is awesome symphony of tastes, you can not eat them all at once and at the same time you can not wait to take the next one. No surprise that this shop is listed in the Michelin Guide.

The shop is called Chocolate Line and it was founded by Dominique Persoone who calls himself shock - o - latier (more info about the shop, factory and pralines here). There is always something seasonal and funny you can buy - like the chocolate poop ;) Dominique is also famous for his sniffing chocolate and chocolate shooter he created for Rolling Stones.

So If you are going to Brugge, hold yourself  back in front of all the shops with good looking chocolate and wait for this one - it is an ultimate chocolate experience!

PS
You can find this shop in Antwerpen too, I just didn't manage to visit it, but if you check the pictures at the websites, it's supposed to be a beautiful fancy shop :)

Black, grey, white, yellow, brown and red

Hello everybody!

Today just short post with my striped dress. I really like this cut, I think it really flattering. Even though I look a bit like a walking Belgian or German flag...It is because this was the last peace in my size and I just could not let this awesome dress leave in the shop.

BTW for those girls with similar body shape - did you notice, how important is the belt, as it draws the attention to your waist? This would work great for all curvy girls with sand glass or pear body shape!

So enjoy and have a great weekend!

Dark blue, yellow and flowers

Hello Girls!

One more picture from the summer! This time again summer dress in the (no dress code) office version ;)
I like to use blazers over dress, it is so great to just take it off and go to the park wit friends without being too hot.

However I appreciated the blazer a lot in the office, as the temperature there was lower than outside. To avoid inappropriate and  in the office a bit vulgar impression (the neckline is quite deep) I wore also the light grey scarf.
But for the party or running outside in the hot weather this peace of clothes is OK, I think.

Hope you enjoy the post and you found it at least a bit inspirational :)

Have great day,

Kristyna

Summer! I miss you!

Hello girls!

If you do miss summer as much as I do, the following pictures might be a bit "drastic" for you. But don't worry there isn't any blood involved, just two dresses I liked to wear during the summer.

Both are from Primark, where  I bought them during my first visit there. And I was happy enough to hit the sales ;) I have to admit, that after my visit there I understand, why most of the girls who are aware of this brand always say: "Primark? I love Primark!". Yes indeed it is the way how to buy trendy clothes for super low price.

Currently I am trying to figure out how to wear them even now or later in the winter, when nude tights are not the solution. I am not sure whether the dress with big flowers is wearable during the calm months (the printing is more suitable for spring/summer, no?), but  I will try.
Do you have any idea, how it might look good?

Wish you a nice day!

Kristyna

Light blue & dark purple

Hello everybody!

I bought this skirt on the garage sale for 1  EUR. I pick it because I like purple, hoverer for a long time  I could not figure out how to combine it.

Black was too dark. White too boring. Dark blue too sad. But this light blue shirt with small polka dots is finally good match, isn't it?
But it still seemed boring. So I added this colorful  belt, but now, I am not sure what is better.
So, what is your opinion?
Have a great evening!

Kristyna

Black and light blue

Hello!

Here is another idea how to make summer dress wearable at work (if there is relaxed dress code) or wherever it is inappropriate to have your shoulders and back naked. Or when it is too cold to have your shoulders naked (..air conditioning..). First you can see my summer dress how I wore it for the city walk during the hot day.

And here how I wore the same dress to the office. And yes, it is the same shirt as in this post :)
Do you wear summer dress to the office too?
BTW it is Carling dress.

Enjoy,
Kristyna

PS

I was in the good mood and the pictures look so much better comparing to those when I am tired. I promise I will try to work on this!

Ligtht grey and denim

Hello girls!

I have a dilemma - I still don't know, whether I should reveal you the prices I usually pay for my clothes or not. Because I am wandering, what can happen if I will tell you and here is what I came up with:

a) you might get jealous and stop to visit my blog
b) you might perceive it as way too cheap and my blog not worth to visit
c) it can make you think I don't appreciate the hard work of workers in the factories
or
d) you might get inspired

Anyway..I am a student, who loves to shop clothes, so this is my way how to make it less or more feasible.  And I am not willing to pay high prices for things I can by in the same quality for less. And I am proud on my bargains. So I bought this shirt for 3 EUR as an experiment - the shoulder area is interesting, isn't it?

Kristyna

PS
Let me know whether I should reveal you the prices or not and what it implies to you!

Polka pink dot dress

Hello there!

I am  sick, so it  is gonna be short today. But fortunately I have some stocks of pictures for you :)
This dress was really cheap (5 EUR) so I decided to give it a try, even though pink is not my colour and I am not into ruffles at all (actually this is my first "ruffle" piece). I have to admit that it creates quite a nice effect in the chest area ;-) And I like polka dot pattern.
What was your last "not my cup of tea" purchase? Were you finally happy with it?

Kristyna

PS
I know it is a bit transparent, hence the legginess :)

Zebra top

Hello everybody!

Today you can check what  I wear if I go out at the evening, but the occasion is not "fancy" so I don't want to be overdressed. Like going to grab some beers (in my case "krieks") with friends.

The top with zebra pattern (yes, again) is great as it has a kind of ribbon at the back part, so you can tie it not to be too loose at the belly area. That creates quite a nice effect with the skinny jeans, where the loose shoulder area ensures balance with the curvy hips (if that is your case) and thanks to the pattern it drives the attention up  ;)
And this time with the heels for more feminine feeling.

What do you wear for such an occasion? Do you care of being overdressed?

Kristyna

Wallpaper blazer

Hello here!

Let me introduce you one of my favorite blazers! Now I am wondering which of my blazers is not my favorite as it is kind of my obsession...hm.. Anyway I found this one in the MANGO outlet store in Fashion arena in Prague and it was really nice deal, even though the size written on this one is L :-O . It was obviously wrong label.. Sure...

Originally I didn't plan to shop that day, but my boyfriend's favorite car service is nearby and after we left the car there we were my boyfriend was forced to go to the outlet. I like that service too, whatever they repair as long as we need to go there from time to time.

This blazer was "love at first sight". From the close view the blazer remains the nice heavy old fashioned wallpapers. It has the shape and cut like English cavalry uniform (less or more) and eye catching buttons which, despite the fact it was bought in outlet, are still on the place.

What was your last  "love at first sight"? Write me!

Have a nice day,

Kristyna

Zebra dress

Hello everybody!

I would like to show you this lovely dress with zebra printing. The printing on the dress is quite eye catching, so I didn't take much accessories. I really like this dress, so I have to figure out how to wear it even in the colder months.

Any idea? Do you think it will look good with the boots?

Looking forward to your comments!

Flowers&jeans

Hello ladies!

This time  I decided to fight with the annoying autumn weather (and especially with the autumn depression) with the shirt with floral printing and a bit childish hair clip. And I added the cardigan not to freeze.

What are your favorite peaces to fight the grey  and drizzly autumn weather? Or if I will think  more positively - to celebrate the beautiful colors of autumn nature?

Have a nice evening,

Kristyna

Small change, big impact?

Hello!

Sometimes I am really surprised how few pieces of accessories can make quite boring outfit much more interesting.

This is what I like to wear for grocery shopping/picking up box on post/going to laundry/handing out some documents at uni/ or anything else where you want to feel comfortable, not overdressed but still good looking. Few peaces of clothes I can just throw on and go. It is just kind of boring, no?

Doesn't it look much better with tucked top, bold belt and matching scarf? As you might notice, I love scarfs as they help to pull the outfit together. Or spice it up. And what is your trick? the same? Bag which "makes the statement"? Massive necklace? Hair accessories? I would welcome some pictures!

PS
I am wearing Time out jeans, no name top, Cache-cache shirt, quite old Kenvelo belt (I have it since I was about 12), Converse shoes, no name bag (present), Daichman scarf and necklace bought in Veritas .

Jeans and heals

Hi people!

Not so long ago I thought that wearing shirt or T shirt tucked in trousers is awful and should be banned as same as socks in sandals (which I still think are awful despite the trend).
But recently I found out that shirts/tops/T-shirts tucked in the trousers or even skirts (Really?? I thought it is also awful?) can actually look way better than untucked! And I have to admit I also like the messy half tucked-half not style, definitely have to try it!

Tell me - was that just my opinion, or you had the same? Something else you thought is awful and now you like it? Like olives for example :-)

Have a nice Friday!

Make your sweater look like new

Hello!

Do you have sometimes the similar problem? You have jumper you really like, but can not wear it anymore because of lint balls which make it look old and ugly? Or you buy a new cotton dress, but because your handbag is always touching the clothes it is “destroyed” after one day of wearing?

You can give it a try and buy yourself a lint remover. I tried that and you can check the difference. I don't claim it is miracle, but I was very happy with the results – it definitely looks better. And it is not so expensive, I paid for mine about 3 EUR (in Lidl in CR) and it works perfectly (but you should not use it longer than 2 minutes..)

Hope it helps!

Black and mint

HI HERE!

I really like the "mint" colour, so when I saw this skirt for 5 EUR I had to have it. In case you are interested - it is from Vero Moda located near metro stop Port de Namur, Brussels - and it is cheaper than the e-shop!

Have you discovered any deal like that recently ? I want to know!

Enjoy your day!

Grey hat again!

Hi!

Gray hat on the scene again! This time in combination with loose gray cardigan, one of the best thing I bought during last months. It is comfy, warm, useful and looks good with almost everything. I don't know, how I could live without it till now ;-)

What is your last favorite "find" you can not live without any more? Why?

Have a nice day,

Kristyna

Where to shop in Brussels...bread and pastry

Good afternoon everybody!

This time I would like to introduce you my favorite Brussels bakery - J. JANSSENS. It is small family  bakery with long tradition (about 60 years) and the best cakes I ever had (maybe except my grandma's cakes) for more than reasonable price (see the picture) in comparison to other bakeries.

Also the bread is great, it tastes like the bread should, doesn't matter whether plain white, dark or sweet, everything is just great.

And one important technical note - they don't try to sell you old bread or pastry. Everything what is old (1 day old) is in discount with clear and understandable tag and always, when I wanted to buy something "older" (e.g. last piece of my favorite cake) I have been told: "But it is from yesterday!" To comparison with bread at Vatel I have just bad experience - twice cold inside like it was in the fridge and once  totally dry and even hard sweet bread - too old (however the small "birthday cake" was very good).

Info:
J. JANSSENS address: Rue Jonniaux 3, Etterbeek
opening days - Wednesday till Sunday
opening hours - I am not 100% sure will try to update
but for sure it is opened on Sunday from 10am till 14 pm.
But it is almost impossible to get any bread after 12 on Sunday.

Below you can see pics of amazing marzipan cake with almonds and apple puree. MNAM!

And what about you? Do you also have some favorite bakery? Share!

Have a nice evening,

Kristyna
