As I promised in the previous post on "how to upgrade your flip flops", here are few tips on how to tie your new upgraded flip flops. There are plenty of ways how to tie them, so I would welcome your ideas!

Dnešním tématek jsou... ŽABKY! Ano, to v létě všudypřítomné obutí, které má spousty stoupenců a stejně tak spousty odpůrců. Jako Crocsy. Nebo Uggsy (takový ty teploučký pohodlný válenky, co sluší snad jen superštíhlým čtrnáctkám). Ale k těm jindy. Každopádně, když snesete "mít něco" mezi prsty na nohou, tak jste pravděpodobně nějaké žabky někdy měli. A ví, že mohou být celkem nepohodlné - když se ten plastový pásek zařízne do nohy (platí především u levnějších modelů, tak asi kolem 100 Kč). No a pak je tu ten protivný pleskavý zvuk. Na koupališti je to OK, ale pleskat takhle kdekoliv za jeho branami mi přijde nevhodné. Pokud žabky vnímáte podobně, mám pro Vás návod, jak si je předělat na pohodlné nepleskající ťapky. Do divadla si je sice pořád nevezmete, ale na zmrzku se v nich jít dá ;)

The theme of the day is - FLIP FLOPS! Yes, those ever-present summer "shoes", which has loads of fans as same as enemies. Like Crocs. Or Uggs (you know, those warm and comfy boots only extra thin 14-teen years old girls look good at). But that's another theme. Anyway - if you can stand "something between your toes" you probably have a pair of flip flops. And you know as well how uncomfortable they can be - especially when the plastic string cuts into your feet (applicable especially for the cheap models - up to 100 Kc/4 EUR). And than there is the annoying flip flop noise. It's OK to hear that at the swimming pool, but anywhere else it is a bit inappropriate. If you have similar opinion I have a tutorial for you so you can remake your flip flops and make them comfortable and quiet. You are not going to wear them in the theater, but for going out for an ice cream they are just perfect ;)

Na tenhle nápad jsem narazila na stránkách talentované Dali - http://li-dali.blogspot.com, které má mimochodem spoustu dobrých nápadů. Její nápad se mi moc líbil a musela jsem něco podobného vyzkoušet. Abych se přiznala, můj těstovinový přívěsek je ještě jednodušší. Je to supr jednoducý a levný projekt a hlavně si můžete vytvořit jakékoliv barevné kombinace tak, aby vám ladili s oblečením a doplňky. 


I came across this idea on the blog of talented Dali - http://li-dali.blogspot.com, who has tons of great ideas. I thought she had a great idea and I had to try something similar. To be honest mine pasta pendant is even simpler. This project is great as it allows you to create any colorful combination you want to match your clothes and it is cheap and pretty simple project.

Jak vylepšit nudnou kabelku?

Venku je zima,ven se mi vůbec nechce, tak jsem se rozhodla trochu vylepšit kabelku, kterou jsem si za nějakým takovým účelem pořídila během jednoho garážového výprodeje. Stála mě asi 2 eura (což je málo), tj 50 Kč (což už není tak málo :) ), byla v pěkném stavu a líbil se mi tvar a velikost - vejde se toho do ní celkem dost. Nicméně mi přišla hróóózně nudná - tj málo elegantní na to, abych ji nosila jen tak "čistou". Původním záměrem bylo přidělat na přední stranu velkou mašli. Ale chtěla jsem si také vyzkoušet pomalování takové kabelky a zdálo se mi, že její zadní část je pro mé pokusy ideálním "plátnem". Protože taška má oblý tvar, zvolila jsem oblíbený vzor puntíků ve zlaté barvě, která je i na zipu a karabinkách.

Řekla bych, že na první pokus celkem zdařilý výsledek, nemyslíte?

A postup? Jednoduchý. Schválně:

K vylepšení nudné kabelky budete potřebovat:

1) vhodnou tašku (levná/stará, prostě taková, jejíž případné zničení Vás nebude mrzet),

2) požadovanou barvu (já mám tu svou z výtvarnýc potřeb, je to univerzální akrylová barva v malém balení),

3) malý štětec s krátkým silným vlasem, který použijete na domalování vzoru a nanešení další vrstvy,

4) něco, co poslouží jako razítko (já použila speciální lino pro lynorit určené k výrobě razítek, dobře ale poslouží i guma, nebo obyčejná brambora, která se dá jednoduše vyříznout do požadovaného tvaru),

5) kartón, nebo krabičku, kterou vložíte dovnitř kabelky - umístěte ji vždy pod místo, které chcete zdobit,

6) křídu, a/nebo malířskou lepící pásku (není nutné, ale užitečné v případě, že si nejste jistá svou schopností udrže štetec na požadovaném místě).

Postup:

1) Připravte si pracovní plochu, omyjte a osušte tašku, promíchejte barvu.

2) Pokud se obáváte, že netrefíte správné rozmístění vzoru, předkreslete si ho křídou. Pokud se obáváte, že (u rovných linií) přetáhnete, použijte malířskou pásku (já nepoužila ani jedno a s určitou dávkou trpělivosti to šlo bez problémů). Vzor můžete do pásky i vystříhat, ale to je celkem pracné.

3) Naneste štětcem barvu na razítko - ne moc, aby barva nestékala z razítka. Lepší méně barvy a dobarvit, než se ji pak snažit setřít.

4) Obtiskávejte dle libosti, nedostatečné obtisknutí (prakticky pokaždé) domalujte opatrně štětcem.

5) Nechte zaschnout.

6) Dle potřeby naneste další vrstvu (y), dokud nedosáhnete kýžené sytosti (vždy nechte barvu nejdřív zaschnout, dle návodu na obalu barvy).

7) Nechte zaschnout.

8) Hotovo, máte originální kabelku :)

How to upgrade a boring handbag? 

The weather is cold and I have no intentions to go out. That's why I decided to "upgrade" one of my handbags I bought for this purpose some time ago at the garage sale. It cost 2 EUR (which is cheap) - it is about 50 CZK (which is not that cheap, but still not expensive at all), it was in the good condition and I liked the shape and size of this bag - I can fit quite everything into it. However it was sooo boring! I mean it was not elegant enough to be worn "plain" as a statement bag. My first aim was to put a big bow on the front part, but I wanted to try painting on the bag too. And the back seemed to be an ideal "canvas" for my experiments. I chose the big dot pattern as the bag has rounded shape and a gold color which can be find on the zipper and carbines too. I think I achieved quite a nice result for the first try, what do you think?

And the instructions? Easy. Let's check it:

To upgrade a boring handbag you will need:

1) Suitable handbag (cheap one or an old one - something you would not be sad if you were to destroy it accidentally).

2) Desired paint (I bought mine in the hobby store, it is an universal acrylic paint in a small package).

3) Small brush with a strong short hair which will be used for the finishing of the pattern and adding another layers of paint.

4) Something you ca use as a stamp. (I used a special rubber intended for the linocut stamp making, however any rubber or a simple potato can do the job. And the potato can be easily cut into the desired shape.)

5) Cardboard or a small box which you should put into the bag under the place you are going to decorate.

6) Chalk and/or masking tape (not necessary, but useful if you are not sure about your abilities to keep the brush at the desired place).

Instructions:

1) Prepare your working table, wash and dry the handbag, mix the paint.

2) If you are afraid you won't be able to place the pattern properly use chalk to draw it. If you are afraid you can miss the pattern use the masking tape (I didn't use any of those things and with some patience I manged to do it without problems.) You can cut the pattern out of the masking tape, but I think it is too complicated.  

3) Use the brush to apply the paint on the stamp - not too much, the paint should not flow down the stamp. 

4) Stamp as you feel appropriate. Finish the incomplete pattern (you have to do it almost always) with the brush.

5) Let it dry.

6) Add layers of paint as needed till you will achieve the desired cover. (Let all the layers dry as is written on the package.)

7) Let it dry.

8) You are done! Enjoy your new original handbag!

Make your sweater look like new

Hello!

Do you have sometimes the similar problem? You have jumper you really like, but can not wear it anymore because of lint balls which make it look old and ugly? Or you buy a new cotton dress, but because your handbag is always touching the clothes it is “destroyed” after one day of wearing?

You can give it a try and buy yourself a lint remover. I tried that and you can check the difference. I don't claim it is miracle, but I was very happy with the results – it definitely looks better. And it is not so expensive, I paid for mine about 3 EUR (in Lidl in CR) and it works perfectly (but you should not use it longer than 2 minutes..)

...turn a baggy T-shirt into fitted nice T-shirt

Are you one of those people who can not refuse a promotional shapeless T-shirt, especially if it is for free? Or in the worse case some of your fashion senseless relatives is used to bring you such a baggy T-shirt as travel gift? Yes i know it would be good as nightgown. Be honest - it is true till you get a boyfriend. Than those horrible pieces of fabrics end somewhere deep deep in the closet and can stay there for years as it is shameful to give them to somebody and even more worse to throw them out as it would be horrible waste (I wore it just once!). So now you can see my solution of such an awkward situation!

I was inspired by this You Tube post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r81KLGqdVoI&feature=related but than I found this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsesXTShep8&feature=related and used the technique for the sides of the T-shirt. I think that the result is quite good and do you know what is the best thing on this project? No sewing!

1. Draw the line (blue) to define the new width of the T-shirt.
(I wanted to have the upper part a bit looser) 

2. Cut of ( red) the collar and both sleeves.

3. Cut the sides of the T shirt so that i got less or more similar stripes.

4. Pull the fabric in the place where you cut of the collar and the sleeves. The fabric will scroll.

5. Pull the stripes in the same way.

6. Use the technique from the second link to twine the strips (You can go over one or two, depends on the width of the stripes) and knock them at the end.
